  1. Not too sure.. but.. I think, both mean the same. But, the context is different. Like.. montage is a video collage and collage is a collection of pictures (not videos)put together. I think this post will fall under a collage... and.. most of Mani Ratnam movies.. present and past shown side by side, would be something like a montage. This is what 'I' think. I could be wrong!

  2. Thnx ... Even I thought the same Montage for Movies and Collage for photos. I saw u've named the photo as 'montage', and as you know about photos and photography I thought its better to clear the doubt .

  3. I think montage is the french word for Editing (Wiki), ie putting together. You can see it in the credits of french movies. Its a situation where you place individual scenes (or photos)together to evoke some meaning from teh collection as a whole. The single elements work in synergy for a greater impact (if done properly only :)

Collage on the other hand is the putting together of not so meaningful things together to form something meaningful, like coloured paper, oblects, etc stuck on paper to form the shape of a face or something.

The difference I guess is that the pieces of a montage has individual meaning of its own, but those of a collage doesnt. So I think the above photo is a Montage.
